CeliacNet: Past Updates: 2004

4 October: I'm a celiac in the Pittsburgh area. I've formed these pages to be a resource for other celiacs, as well as myself. At the moment I know we're all doing Halloween candy shopping. I'm still waiting to hear back from M&M/Mars, but I do have Nestle and Hershey candies listed. Also, I will be redesigning the pages over the next week or so. This should increase usability and readability, as well as giving it a more pleasing look.

6 October: Good news, all Outback patrons! The new GF menu includes drinks. Also, I've updated the links section to include Savory Palate and Pam's Celiac Kitchen.

9 October: More Halloween news, everything made by Tootsie Co. is GF. The candy list has been updated accordingly.

17 October: More drinks have been added to the beverage list and a guestbook has been created. The proposed redesign hasn't happened yet due to the server outage last week. Look for the changes to happen in the next couple of weeks.

20 October: First big change: the GF product lists have been split into individual pages. This will make them a lot more readable.

28 October: Welcome to CeliacNet! We've moved from netdiving.com. All the information will continue to be updated as usual, and hopefully the new address will increase visibility, helping more celiacs.

30 October: Colorado celiacs, you can now buy sandwiches at a restaurant! The place is called Wholly Tomato, and you can link to it from the links page.

5 November: In honor of winter, I've added many cough and cold medicines to the products list. Still working on finding GF status on more, plus checking favorite Thanksgiving foods.

6 November: I've added a list for dairy products and one for fruit products. I've also added several restaurants to the list, after hearing about them on the celiac list-server. Also, for parents of celiac kids, or anyone who misses finger food, Ian's now makes GF chicken nuggets and fish sticks. I can't vouch for the nuggets, but the fish sticks are great.

9 November: Okay, so it's a little late for Halloween, but I finally got the list from M&M/Mars. See the candy page for details. This week I plan to work on adding a new category or two in the products section and maybe a page with primerrmation especially for new celiacs.

12 November: I just added a new product list, household cleaners. I'm still working on putting together the page with basic primerrmation for celiacs, but I expect that to be up within the next few days.

13 Nobember:The Celiac Primer is up, a little sooner than I had expected. But it just came together this morning. I've also heard from Butterball on which of their turkeys they recommend for celiacs, for all of you doing your holiday shopping. The personal care section is also expanding rapidly as I check with more companies on what is safe for us to use.

18 November: I've continued to add turkey information as it has come in, it looks for the most part like turkeys are safe. This is definitely good news for the holiday cooking ahead. Also, I've verified that Teclabs's Calagel anti-itch gel is GF, so that's good news for any itchy celiacs.

23 November: It's come to my attention that United is reinstating GF meals in January, and in honor of that, I've added a GF travel page. I'm working right now on getting information from a couple more cleaning product manufacturers.

27 November: I hope everyone had a lovely gluten-free Thanksgiving. We enjoyed ours, and learned some important lessons, the most important of which is not to use potato starch flour to make gravy. Also, rice flour doesn't work as a dusting for a turkey bag--it makes the bag stick to the turkey. I've added to the list of cleaning products and added a new link.

6 December: I've updated the beverages and cleaning sections. Turns out all Ocean Spray and Seventh Generation products are gluten-free.

18 December: The beverage, fruit, and meat lists have all been updated. Found a great sausage maker that has a very large number of GF products.

30 December: I wrote to Chevy's this week, suggesting that they post their GF menu information on their website. However, as I only received an updated copy of the menu in response, I've decided to post it on this website instead. So, for gluten-free Mexican food, I recommend reading the menu and then heading for Chevy's.
